THE GARDEN AND THE VILLA PUCCINI OF PISTOIA
The Puccini Bonacchi Park is one of the most beautiful and important historic residence in the province of Pistoia with a historic garden, a Pantheon, monuments and a fortress.
The project of the ancient romantic park was completed by a nobleman from Pistoia, Niccolò Puccini, in about thirty years from 1820 to 1850, who was inspired by the charm of the English gardens seen by the nobleman, patriot, philanthropist and patron from Pistoia while he was traveling in Italy and in Europe.
The Park represents a true green lung just outside the city; from the Villa start shady pathways that reach the great Lake of Scornioed where you can see the original monuments of the garden: the old ruins of the gothic temple, the gothic castle with the monument dedicated to Francesco Ferrucci, the Pantheons of the illustrious men.
You can admire the “Palazzina dei Promessi Sposi”, “Ponte Napoleone”, the Tower of Catilina, hermitage Church, the statue of the Madonna delle Vigne and the Podesteria, then return to the villa walking through the route of Valdibrana, passing near the Limonaia of the eighteenth-century Garden of the citrus fruits (currently under restoration).
