THE LIBERO ANDREOTTI MUSEUM
Located in the oldest part of the city of Pescia stands the Libero Andreotti Gipsoteca, a museum dedicated to Libero Andreotti, who is considered one of the major representatives of Italian contemporary sculpture of the early twentieth century.
The collection of this small museum is made up of more than 200 plaster statues (preparatory plaster statues, sketches and replicas) that come from the artist’s studio and dimostrate the entire evolution of his career.
It was naugurated at the end of 1992 in the restored rooms of the Palazzo del Podestà of the thirteenth century, called “Il Palagio”, thanks to the works generously donated by the Andreotti family; the museum has found considerable success both locally and nationally, as well as being enjoyed by a fair number of foreign visitors.
Inside you can admire numerous preparatory sketches and models such as the monuments to the fallen soldiers of Bolzano and Milan and the Pomona, attend events and exhibitions, discover manuscripts, magazines and old photos and also visit a room dedicated to students and collaborators of Libero Andreotti such as: Antonio Berti, Lelio Gelli, Agostino Giovannini, Delio Granchi, Bruno Innocenti, Giannetto Mannucci and Raffaello Salimbeni.
